On March 17, 2014, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sex offense against a minor child that occurred at a residence in Bath and Washington, NC. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and collected evidence.
As a result of the investigation, Investigator Brad Shackelford charged Mr. Paul Emmanuel Tate Jr., age 30, of Clark Road in Bath with multiple counts of Statutory Rape.
A Beaufort County Grand Jury heard evidence in the case and indicted Mr. Tate on Three(3) counts of Statutory Rape and Three(3) counts of a Sex Offense.
Mr. Tate was out on bond when he failed to appear for trial on August 10, 2015. An order for Arrest was issued by the Superior Court Judge.
Mr. Paul Tate was captured and taken into custody on Tuesday August 18, 2015 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office enlisted the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Fugitive and Missing Person Task Force, comprised in this region of The NC SBI, Greenville Police Department, and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
