On March 8, 2016 at approximately 12:53 pm, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Bomb Threat at Washington High School. Deputies responded to the school where they first insured the school was clear of all students and then executed a search of the school, out buildings and buses. After all measures were completed to insure student and staff safety Deputies collected evidence and conducted interviews.
As a result of information and evidence gathered during the investigation, Investigator Jason Hill applied for and obtained warrants charging Jarwone Jermaine Johnson, age 16, of Blount Drive in Washington with one count of Felony False Bomb Report on a Public Building, one count of Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property and one count of Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct.
On March 16, 2016, Jarwone Johnson was arrested by Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputies and taken before Magistrate Jasper Mills where he was placed under a $25,000 unsecured bond and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
Officers from the Washington Police Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol as well as personnel from Washington Fire Department and Washington EMS also responded to the initial call and provided assistance.
