On 02-2-2017, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Jermaine Gibbs, 29 years of age, of Hwy. 99 2nd Lane in Bayboro NC. Gibbs was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell, Deliver and Manufacture Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Revoked, Flee to Elude Arrest and Reckless Driving to Endanger.
Gibbs’ arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving information that a person had overdosed on heroin on the Big Hill Road in Edward. Investigators received information that Gibbs had sold the heroin to the overdose victim and was driving a light gold colored Nissan Altima. Investigators received information that Gibbs was still located in the Edward area.
Investigators traveled to the Edward area and spotted Gibbs driving the gold colored Nissan Altima. Investigators attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Gibbs on Tunstall Swamp Road in Edward. Gibbs refused to stop and led Investigators on a 10 mile chase throwing heroin and plastic bags out the window before being apprehended. Investigators recovered the items that were thrown and found digital scales and other packaging material inside Nissan Altima.
Gibbs was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $27,000.00 bond.
The overdose victim was transported to the Beaufort County Hospital by EMS and reported to be in stable condition.
