On Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at about 3:00 pm Beaufort County Deputies took custody of a 59 year old suicidal Chocowinity man. After securing the necessary court order the man was taken to Vidant Beaufort for a psychological evaluation.
At about 9:00 am Thursday the same man was released from Vidant Hospital and shortly after Vidant Police found themselves in a standoff with the man who was armed with a knife and again threatening suicide. Beaufort County Deputies responded to Vidant’s call for assistance and after a brief standoff, using a taser Deputies were able to disarm him. During the incident the unidentified man was not injured. He was returned to Vidant for further evaluation.
