On Tuesday, October 9, 2018 a conversation overheard by 2 students on a school bus lead to an 18 yr. old Northside High School Student being charged with making a False Threat of Mass Violence on Educational Property.
Northside School Resource Officer Milton Long was made aware of the threat just after 9:00 am and immediately began an investigation. After several interviews and searches were conducted, Long charged Austin Shane Walden of Belhaven with the felony.
It is alleged that Walden made the false threat because he was upset over a rumor about him and an unidentified girl at the same school. During the searches conducted by Long, no gun was located on campus. Walden was processed and released on a $5,500.00 secured bond.
