On the afternoon of Saturday, October 20th, 2018 Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received information that Billy Grizzard III, 20 and Kellie Moseley, 30 were located in the Blounts Creek area of Beaufort County. Grizzard had an active warrant for open murder and Moseley had an active warrant for accessory after the fact, murder. Shortly after 10:00pm, deputies and officers located Grizzard and Moseley while they were exiting a house that they had broken into and vandalized.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but had to pursue the vehicle from Blounts Creek to Chocowinity. Grizzard was shot in the arm during the arrest. Both Grizzard and Moseley were taken into custody and medically treated at Vidant Beaufort in Washington. Grizzard was transferred to Vidant in Greenville. Both Grizzard and Moseley were taken into custody by the Greenville Police Department. Additional charges will be filed in Beaufort County.
The deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave and the incident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, which is a standard protocol.
Due to the fact that this is now a multi-agency investigation, limited information is available for release at this time.
