Chrishaun Carter, age 28, of Greenville, NC was charged with one count (1) of Felony Death by Distribution.
On August 16, 2022, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls reporting an unresponsive four-year-old child at a residence on 7th Street in Aurora. Deputies responded to the scene where they were informed by Aurora EMS personnel that the child was deceased. Detectives began conducting interviews and collecting evidence. No other persons in the residence were injured during the incident.
On March 16, 2023, Detectives received information that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner had determined the child died from Fentanyl Toxicity.
On March 16, 2023, a Detective applied for and obtained a warrant charging Chrishaun Carter, age 28, of Greenville, NC with one count (1) of Felony Death by Distribution as a result of the information gathered during the investigation.
On April 3, 2023, Carter was surrendered to the Magistrate’s Office by a Licensed Bondsman on an existing bond that was not related to this investigation. Beaufort County Sheriff Deputies then took Carter into custody for the outstanding Death by Distribution warrant where he was ordered held on an $80,000 secured bond set by a Beaufort County Magistrate.
