On May 29, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office along with Probation and Parole Officers from the NC Department of Adult Correction conducted a search at 699 Main St. Aurora, NC. This is the residence of Tyran Adriene Dixon and Jefton Jaqueze Bynum. As a result of this search, Deputies seized over 40 grams of the powerful synthetic opioid known as fentanyl, 175 grams of methamphetamine, 225 grams of marijuana and over $10,000 in U.S. currency.

Tyran Adriene Dixon. Was arrested and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond under the following charges:

– Trafficking in Opium or Heroin (Fentanyl) by Possession

– Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession

– Possession of Schedule II (Oxycodone)

– PWISD Schedule VI (Marijuana)

– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jefton Jaqueze Bynum was arrested and released from the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,000 unsecured bond under the following charges:

– Possession of Marijuana less than ½ Ounce

– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 2 milligrams of fentanyl is considered to be a lethal dose. This fentanyl seizure by Deputies and Probation and Parole Officers is enough fentanyl to potentially kill over 20,000 people.

Since January 1st of this year, Deputies have seized more than 250 grams of fentanyl off the streets of Beaufort County. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with local entities to help combat the harmful effects of fentanyl and are committed to keeping dangerous drugs out of our community.
