On September 16, 2014 at 4:45 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering that had just occurred at a residence on Highway 33 West in Chocowinity, NC. Deputies responded to the scene and learned that the suspect had entered the victim’s home and stolen prescription medication while the resident was bedridden. The suspect was seen and identified leaving the scene by the victim’s relative who was stopping by to check on the victim.
Deputies patrolled the area and located the suspect riding in a vehicle on Highway 33 East in Chocowinity. Deputies stopped the vehicle at approximately 6:42 p.m. Deputies approached the vehicle and observed crushed pill residue in the lap of the passenger. Sgt. Thomas Salinas arrested Dustin Hudson, age 21 of Hodges Road in Chocowinity. Two pills consistent with the pills stolen from the residence were located in Hudson’s pocket. Deputies searched the vehicle and located additional drug paraphernalia and residue.
As a result, Hudson was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hudson was transported to the Magistrate’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $500,000.00 secured bond. The driver of the vehicle, Donnie Len Mayo Jr., age 19 of Taylor Road in Chocowinity was also arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mayo was held on a $10,000.00 secured bond.
