On October 3rd, 2018 at about 6:30 pm Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to call for help from a citizen at the intersection of Hwy 17 N and Cherry Run Road in Washington. The caller told communicators he witnessed a man assault and then run from a NC State Trooper. The caller who chased the suspect and was able to give Deputies a description and guide them to the area where the man was last seen.
Within minutes Deputies located and arrested 20 yr. Frederick Lamar Skinner Jr of Greenville NC, in a field not far from where the Trooper had stopped Skinner for a traffic violation. Skinner was charged by Deputies and the NC Trooper with Resisting Officers as well as the traffic violations. Skinner has since been released on bond.
