Sending Mail to Inmates
Incoming Mail
All incoming mail will be inspected for contraband prior to scanning on the tablets. All scanned mail containing material considered illegal or breaches of security, will be turned over to the proper authorities for investigation. Any threats of criminal activity will not be permitted in any correspondence and may result in criminal charges. All incoming mail must have a full return name and a full return address, otherwise, it will not be accepted.
- All general mail, pictures (excluding nudity), drawings, or greeting cards will be viewed on the tablets.
- Incoming privileged mail will be opened and inspected for contraband by an officer in the presence of the inmate.
- Books are provided on the tablet and through the Chaplin that are suitable for the Detention Center
- Any books or materials not suitable in a detention facility will be returned.
- Money orders may only be accepted from those who live outside Beaufort County. If received, the money will be deposited to the inmate’s account and a receipt will be issued.
- All incoming non-legal mail must be labeled and sent as the following :

Outgoing Mail
All outgoing mail will be inspected for contraband before mailing. All outgoing mail will be a return address of the Detention Center as well as the name of the inmate.
Privileged Mail
All privileged mail will be sent as follows, to Beaufort County Detention Center. Incoming privileged mail will be opened and inspected for contraband by an officer in the presence of the inmate.
