SRO (School Resource Officer)

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has reinstituted the SRO program in each of the public schools throughout the county.  Beginning the 2024-2025 academic year, an SRO with the latest training and information will be stationed at each campus. Their role will be to provide students, parents, and school personnel with security and professional service.

NCLEA (North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation)

NCLEA is an accreditation program that was approved by the Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission and the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission in 2023. NCLEA is a voluntary program for law enforcement agencies in North Carolina. Accreditation is gained by exceeding the standards put forth by the commission. Sheriff Hammonds is committed to obtaining accreditation for the Office in an effort to maintain transparency and to reflect his high standards.
