Support Services
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Support Services Division is responsible for the following duties assigned by the Sheriff Scott Hammonds:
The Court Services Unit is responsible for the security, safety and order of the courthouse consisting of the Judges, courthouse employees and the general public. Bailiffs assist judges with logistical issues when they arise, and coordinate with the other offices inside the court system such as the clerks and district attorney’s office.
Bailiffs also are responsible for the transportation of inmates from our detention facility and other jails or prisons across the state to and from court proceedings or court ordered mental health evaluations.
The Civil Services Unit is responsible for the Sheriff’s statutory responsibility for the service of process and execution of writs. These judicial process documents originate from the courts, governmental agencies and private attorneys throughout North Carolina and the United States to include:
· Summons
· Civil Summons
· Claim and Deliveries
· Writs for Possession (real and personal property)
· Civil Orders for Arrest
· Writs of Executions (enforcement of money judgments)
· Child Custody Orders
The Logistics Unit manages the maintenance, purchase, and inventory of the Sheriff’s Office equipment and fleet. The logistics unit also includes the Sheriff’s Office Information Technology network and maintains the body camera system, 911 servers, computers, emails, and all other electronic equipment.
