Duties
Division Description
The Information Technology Division (ITD) is the central technology provider for the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. This division oversees the use of existing and emerging technologies of the Sheriff’s Office operations and services to the public.
These services include Computer Aided Dispatch, enterprise solutions, technology infrastructure and integration, information security, geographic information systems, detention systems, and computer/telecommunications support. Our service offerings are designed to improve government access, efficiency, and public value through responsive service, integrated information, and a shared infrastructure that is cost-effective, secure and reliable.
Essential Duties and Tasks
· Provides software and hardware technical support
· Performs basic computer support functions to end users
· Responsible for maintaining up to date antivirus on all workstations
· Verifies backup procedures are in working condition
· Manages shared storage for end users
· Coordinates with other divisions on troubleshooting, training, and repair of software and hardware platforms
· Provides support for mobile devices and networks
· Installs and maintains current software patches, upgrades, and firmware updates for servers and workstations
· Installs and sets up software platforms on new workstations and laptops
· Assists in maintaining active inventory of all electronic devices such as mobile devices, workstations, and laptops.
· Maintains a working knowledge of current and emerging technologies in the public safety industry.
· Primary administrator for website
· Assists in recommending budget ideas for Technology Division
· Rotates on call schedule with other technology employees
· Performs other duties that build the office efficiency not listed in Essential Duties. Also, any reasonable task requested that is related to this position.
Education and Experience
Desirable Education and Experience
· Two-year degree in computer technology or related field, or combination of education and experience related to the computer technology field.
· Experience working in a public safety/law enforcement environment.
· High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
· Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
· Special training related to 911 or Detention technologies is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of walking, standing, climbing, balancing, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling, and which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 40 to 50 pounds).
